Financial Controller (30 hrs per week)

We are looking for an experienced and talented financial controller with a broad range of skills to join Zest at an exciting time for the organisation.

Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 per annum (pro rata) dependent on skills, knowledge and experience.

Background
Zest is an established and independent Leeds-based charity working to improve life chances in Leeds through a range of community development, health and wellbeing projects. In September 2017 we will open a trading subsidiary – Leeds Cookery School – in The Old Fire Station, Gipton, Leeds, and wish to appoint an experienced accountant with a broad range of skills to be a key member of the senior management team and take the financial lead through this new phase of our development.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of people and professionals, including our board of directors and trustees, acting as our professional lead with accountants, auditors, legal and charity commission contacts and developing links with a wide range of stakeholders including donors, funders, corporate supporters and Orion Partnership Members.
Key Requirements of the post:
• Demonstrable experience of charity accounting, forecasting, preparation of management accounts and project costings
• Experience of commercial /trading accounting, cost sharing between charity and trading subsidiary, tax inc VAT and cashflow monitoring
• Staff management
• Ability to set, monitor and ensure compliance with organisational financial procedures
• Ability to take on Company Secretary role and meet reporting requirements of both the Charity Commission and Companies House

Terms and conditions to include: 39 days annual leave per year (pro rata), including public and bank holiday allowances. Zest – Health for Life will contribute 5% of salary to a pension scheme. Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure.
