Candidates –frequently asked questions and help
We are a group of people who have faced the prospect of unemployment – whether through natural, early or enforced retirement or redundancy – at the 'wrong' age, 50 years old or more! And we soon realised that there are thousands of people just like us.
For one reason or another – whether for financial reasons or because we enjoyed the challenge or interaction – none of us was ready to say goodbye to our working lives or being busy.
So, the concept of Skilled People.com was born. A register of mature, experienced individuals who are willing to work full time, part time, on contract, or short projects.
Membership is ongoing. Even if you have found the job you are looking for, or maybe have decided not to work again, you can still log on and take advantage of the services, products, links and advice on offer.
You can see details of the job by clicking on the appropriate link. Provided that you have registered, you will be able to indicate your interest in the position.
It is not essential but a potential employer is more likely to consider you for a position if you have supplied a CV. If you cannot supply one, by providing the information about yourself that we request during the registration process, you will automatically build a profile of your career which we can send to any potential employer. They may then ask for your full CV, so make sure that you have an up to date version handy at that time. If you need help to build or update your CV click here for details of our CV writing guide.
Yes, if you would like to! Anyone can join and take advantage of any special deals, services or products we will be offering.

No. Whilst we are targeting mature and experienced people to join Skilled People.com, we don't have any lower (or indeed upper) age limit – anyone is welcome. The Act simply makes it more likely that employers will give mature and experienced people greater consideration when recruiting, than may have been the situation in the past. The objective of Skilled People.com is to provide employers with access to potential employees, who hitherto have not been easy to reach, or have been rejected out of hand.
Yes, there is small charge to employers who wish to search the Register or post a vacancy.

Your contact details will be released to registered members unless you specifically ask us not to do so. If a member wishes to make contact with you about a job in which they are interested, the notification will come to you by the route you will have set.
If you supply your web site address when registering a job, this will be seen by members. Anonymity for your business can be preserved by not entering this information when posting a job but if your email address is the same name as the business domain name a candidate may still be able to identify your company. If you wish to be anonymous you must take the necessary steps to achieve this.
