Who are you?
We are a group of people who have faced the prospect of unemployment – whether
through natural, early or enforced retirement or redundancy – at the ‘wrong’
age, 50 years old or more! And we soon realised that there are thousands of
people just like us.
For one reason or another – whether for financial or because we
enjoyed the challenge or interaction – none of us was ready to say goodbye to
our working lives or being busy.
So, the concept of Skilled People.com was born. A register of mature,
experienced individuals who are willing to work full time, part time, on
contract, or as volunteers.
How long does my membership last?
Membership is ongoing. Even if you have found the job you are looking for, or
maybe have decided not to work again, you can still log on and take advantage
of the services, products, links and advice on offer.
If you join as a Jobseeker and then wish to seek a voluntary role, you simply
need to re-register as a Volunteer.
If I see a job in your advertisement section, how do I get in touch with the employer?
You can see details of the job by clicking on the appropriate link. Provided that you have registered,
you will be able to indicate your interest in the position.
I haven’t got an up to date CV, do I have to write one?
No, don’t worry! By providing the information about yourself that we request during the registration process,
you will automatically build a comprehensive CV which you can give to any potential employer.
Can I still join even if I am not looking for a job or voluntary work at the
moment?
Yes, if you would like to! Anyone can join and take advantage of any special
deals, services or products we will be offering.
Is there an age limit for members?
Skilled People.com is not an ageist organisation, so anyone can join.
When looking for a position of any type, you should ensure that you only
promote yourself for jobs that are within your capability
Why do you want an e mail address?
Because that is the way we will maintain contact with you. It will not be
passed on to anyone else without your permission.
Why do you need my date of birth?
We require this information for statistical purposes.
It will not be passed to anyone outside Skilled People.com.
What happens if I do not have an e mail address?
All contact with members will be by e mail, so you must have regular access to
an e mail account which you can register with us as your contact address. This
could be another persons; provided that you have their permission to use it.
How long will my career details remain on the site?
There is no time limit. Hopefully, you will find what you are looking for very
quickly; but, of course, there are no guarantees. The onus is on you to make
sure that your details are kept up to date or removed, and this can be done
very simply via your Administration Area.
How often do you match my details to jobs?
New jobs and voluntary positions are always being added, so the site is
automatically searched on a regular basis.
Supposing I want to change the criteria for the job I am seeking?
You can change some or all of the information that you have registered via
simple links in your Administration Area.
Can you find domestic staff for your members – if I need a
gardener/cleaner/babysitter to work for me for just a few hours each week?
We will do our best to match jobseekers to prospective employers, whatever the
need. In this case, you will become an employer, and can place the details of
the work you need done on the database by registering as an employer - you can
also place an advertisement on the site for a small fee.
Will employers be given all of my contact information?
Only if you, or an employer, specifically ask to be put in touch
What happens if I am not sure about the type of job I want?
You can use the Keyword search facility in your Administration Area to look for
a variety of different positions.
How will I know if you find a job match for me?
All new vacancies that fit the criteria you have given us will be notified to
you by e mail. If you think that the job is suitable, let us know, and we will
advise the employer of your interest.
How will I know if an employer likes my profile?
They will tell us, and we will alert you by e mail
Is the information that I give to you secure?
We hold all of our data on secure servers. We will only forward your details to
other third parties if you have specifically given us permission when you
register.
How do I get in touch with an employer if I see a job that I like?
Simply advise us the reference number of the job, and we will send the employer
your career details. If they think you are a suitable match for the position,
we will release your details to them and they will contact you direct.
Can I search the site myself?
You can search the site yourself using any mixture of Counties, Towns, and
Postcodes. You can also search using Keywords; this will find details of all
jobs containing these words.
What happens if an employer offers me a job?
You should advise us about this immediately by e mail, and also tell us when
you have accepted or refused a job.
If you are still in the market for a job e.g. a second part-time or a voluntary
position, you can leave your career details on the site – provided that they
have been updated and your requirements and availability revised.
Either way, you will remain a member of Skilled People.com, and benefit
from the deals that we negotiate for members.
What happens if I find a job elsewhere?
Let us know by e mail.
If you are still in the market for a job e.g. a second part time or voluntary
position, you can leave your career details on the site – provided that they
have been updated and your requirements and availability revised.
Either way, you will remain a member of Skilled People.com, and benefit
from the deals that we negotiate for members.
What happens if I forget my password?

Check that you have entered the EXACT e mail address and password that you used
when you registered.

How do I cancel my membership?
If you wish to cease all connection with Skilled Peopl.com, e mail

you can benefit from any deals that we negotiate.
