Unemployment Statistics and the Over 50s

January’s statistics reveal that:

•There are currently 432,000 unemployed in the 50+ group

•This is a jump of 23,000 since last month’s figures were released

•The total number of 50+ out of work for 12 months or more is 182,000

•This increase in the 50+ unemployment rate is almost twice as fast as the increase in the 18-24 year olds
