Why is SkilledPeople.com for sale or rent?

SkilledPeople.com is one of the leading jobsites in the “over 50s recruitment” market.

It was established in 2008 by a former director of Churchill Insurance and taken over in 2011 by Keith Simpson. He has run it since then with assistance for other directors and freelance staff.

Keith will shortly turn 65 and has decided to change direction in 2020 to go back to his roots in public relations and communications.

As a result he is inviting interested parties to either take over the business or run it on a rental basis.

A total takeover speaks for itself. The acquirer would benefit from an extremely well engineered, SQL database-driven, ecommerce website with very good natural search Google listings and some 20,000 registered users. The site is also integrated with Jobg8 to receive aggregated job postings and provide a low cost route to post jobs on to a multitude of associated jobsites.

It has a simple to use content management system but, in the event of a technical problem, there is a long-standing relationship with a low cost Leeds-based support engineer to solve these types of issues.

With the rental option, the new operator would take over all day to day running of the business but would not own the assets. Instead a monthly fee or a commission would be paid to Skilled People Limited thereby reducing risk and initial capital outlay by the new operator.

In both scenarios, Keith anticipates keeping costs as low as possible for a new owner or operator. His first objective is to ensure SkilledPeople continues to meet both the needs of older job seekers and employers seeking experienced staff. It is therefore important that, however the service is kept alive, it is done so in an ethical way with high standards of customer service.
